Breast augmentation (augmentation mammoplasty)

Breast augmentation in medicine is called augmentation mammoplasty.In this case, the patient's breast volume is increased using artificial implants.The place of its introduction is the areas of the body located below or above the pectoral muscles.The price of breast augmentation varies depending on the physiological characteristics and wishes of the woman.

What is mammoplasty?

Surgical breast augmentation is considered the most reliable way to create a bust of the desired shape and size.Thanks to this procedure, it will be possible to solve psychological and aesthetic problems, give femininity to the figure, increase self-esteem and self-confidence (illustrations below: breast augmentation before and after).

High-quality implants of various shapes and volumes are used in the augmentation mammoplasty process.The creation of a new breast takes into account the physiological characteristics of each patient.Specialists use unique 3D equipment to help you see what the future bust will look like.

It is important to know that it is impossible to change the size and shape of the mammary glands by other methods (exercises, special creams).The only guaranteed opportunity to acquire a bust with the desired parameters is breast augmentation.

Indications for mammoplasty

Breast augmentation is indicated for the following categories of patients:

  • representatives of the fair sex who have naturally small mammary glands;
  • women who experience a deterioration in the shape and volume of the breasts after the birth of a child;
  • Patients with congenital or acquired asymmetry of the mammary glands.

The operation is also performed after injuries in the chest area, if it is necessary to replace previously installed implants.

What implants are used?

When performing breast augmentation surgery, specialists use implants with high-quality silicone fillings.They consist of an elastic layer of increased resistance and a viscous medical-grade gel, which acts as an analogue of natural tissue.

Once the mammoplasty is performed, the implants do not cause any discomfort.They are completely compatible with the human body and do not cause unwanted reactions, cancer or other diseases.Each implant contains thick, cross-linked silicone inside.

The high quality of the implants used guarantees the absence of ripples, folds, shell breaks and silicone leaks.

What you need to know

Before carrying out the procedure, you must consider the following points

  1. Mammoplasty surgery does not solve the problem of sagging breasts;In this case, an additional procedure (mastopexy) is necessary.
  2. The results of augmentation do not always last a lifetime.In the future, it may be necessary to replace one or two implants at a time.
  3. If the patient has a slim build, the edges of the silicone inserts may become more pronounced.
  4. If there is asymmetry of the mammary glands, it is quite difficult to achieve their completely identical shape;Even after surgery, differences invisible to the naked eye remain.

Preparing for breast augmentation

Before undergoing a breast augmentation procedure, you will need to properly prepare:

  • 2 weeks before surgery, stop taking hormonal medications, quit smoking, or reduce the number of cigarettes to 1-2 per day;
  • during the 7 days before mammoplasty, refrain from consuming alcohol, exclude spicy, fatty and salty foods from the menu;
  • The night before the operation, completely refuse food.

It is important to inform your surgeon about any medications you are taking before surgery.At the stage of preparation for mammoplasty, the price of breast augmentation should be negotiated.

On the day of the operation, you should wear comfortable clothing that does not compress the bust and carry documents, test results and personal hygiene products with you.

Stages of breast augmentation surgery

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia.After putting the patient to sleep, the surgeon makes an incision in the skin through which he creates a “pocket” to insert the implants.The location of the incision may be the fold under the breast (submammary fold), the area around the areola (periareolar incision), or the axillary region.

The doctor then places the implant in the desired area of the body (between the breast tissue and the pectoral muscles, behind the pectoral muscle).The entire procedure lasts between 60 and 90 minutes.

How does recovery occur after mammoplasty?

Complete recovery from mammoplasty can take up to several weeks.After 7 to 14 days, the sutures are removed (if they were not dissolvable).

During the rehabilitation period, it is recommended to wear a sports bra 24 hours a day.It can be removed 3 months after the operation.

Additionally, the patient is recommended:

  • Avoid heavy lifting for 30 days;
  • refrain from physical activity and intense sports training for at least 1 month;
  • Protects scars from exposure to direct sunlight throughout the year.

The breasts acquire a natural appearance a few months after mammoplasty (see below - photo of breast augmentation).

After this, you can stop wearing a sports bra and gradually switch to regular underwear.

Side effects of breast enlargement include swelling, temporary pain, and hardening.As a rule, they disappear after a few weeks.

Do you breastfeed after mammoplasty?

If a woman has undergone breast augmentation, it is still possible to breastfeed.Patients planning pregnancy and breastfeeding after mammoplasty should inform their surgeon.The specialist will select the type of operation that does not have a negative impact on future breastfeeding.The best option in this case would be to make an incision under the glands or in the armpits and place the implants under the pectoralis major muscles.In this case, the possibility of feeding the baby with breast milk will be completely preserved.

Breast augmentation surgery, which involves a transareolar approach with an incision along the edge of the areola, is not recommended for pregnant women.This procedure can cause complications (aseptic mastitis).

The surgeon will definitely inform the patient about the existing methods of plastic breast augmentation and recommend the safest option for mammoplasty.

How much does breast augmentation cost?

A specialist will be able to announce the total price of breast augmentation after carefully studying the individual characteristics of the patient.Its size is influenced by the type and quality of implants used and the need for additional lifting.
